NEW YORK, NY — (Marketwire) — 03/30/09 — Social Media for Social Change (SM4SC), a digital organization that uses social media tools to raise money for deserving charities, is holding an event to benefit City Harvest on April 3 at 7:00 PM at the Roger Smith Hotel. SM4SC hopes to raise a $20,000 donation. Already, 13 companies have partnered with SM4SC to donate cash, services and items to be raffled at the event.
SM4SC uniquely combines online and offline initiatives to raise money for socially conscious charities. For example, the organization raised over $1,500 for City Harvest on Twitter alone, through campaigns called #stayinandhelp and #tenbuckthursday.
Platinum Partner and official lodging provider Roger Smith Hotel donated the space, refreshments, as well as an open bar for the first hour and a half of the event. Yelp, another Platinum Partner, will provide gift bags to attendees.
SM4SC raised over $20,000 for Jane Doe Inc. at its inaugural event on October 10, 2008 at the Harvard Club in Boston.
All proceeds from the April 3 event will go to City Harvest. Tickets can be purchased at http://sm4scnyc.eventbrite.com.
