Today’s Social Media Links

Worthwhile reading for Monday:
Here Comes Twitter Spam and How to Fight It:
A spam-less Twitter feed might just be too good to be true. Spam is becoming an increasing problem on Twitter and something has to be done to separate the wheat from the chaff. Spammers are using Twitter as a tool by replying to your [...]

Tweetzi, simple real-time twitter search and trend discovery

I came across Tweetzi in a press release today, it’s a neat little search. It’s not that much different than regular Twitter search, there are a few things that make it useful though. For one there’s a “play” button you can hit that will automatically update a certain keyword.
For example, I searched “pizza” :

You can [...]

Wordpress Stripping out your line break?

I had to deal with the issue several hours today of Wordpress stripping out any line break code I tried. I assume it’s some sort of bug, although it seems to be happen with all versions of wordpress. It seems to happen after you left-align a picture. Anyway, I read multiple blogs and none of [...]

Top Facebook Applications See 25 Percent Drop In Traffic Since Redesign

This came across my Twitter account this morning and it was something I was worried about. Applications are seeing a drop in use across the board. I’m not surprised a day after the redesign, I lost things our company developed, and I couldn’t find other apps I use. It’s not well pointed out that apps [...]

A little bit of Peep fun for Easter weekend

Hey for all you peep lovers out there, check this out.  I was looking for cool Easter basket stuff for the kid. Since I prefer to do all shopping from my geekosphere she is stuck with what I can find online.  So  her basket contains Season 1 of Sliders, a cool chicken that lays bubble [...]

Rumors of Google Talks for Twitter Persist

Looks like there’s some rumblings about Google buying Twitter. I’ve been hearing about this on my Twitter account for a few days now:
From: http://dealbook.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/04/06/rumors-of-google-talks-for-twitter-persist/

It seems that rumors that Google is in talks to buy Twitter just won’t go away.
Chatter that the search giant and the microblogging start-up were holding deal talks resurfaced last week, when [...]

4 Key Reasons Why Social Media Marketing Fails

This is a continuation from the Web 2.0 Expo: Why Social Media Marketing Fails- And How to Fix it . Can’t agree more. I’m not even sure if we should be calling it marketing or doing “marketing campaigns” since that’s not what building relationships or producing thought leadership content in social media is about. I [...]

Ooo, neato: Digg Launches New Toolbar- Makes Digging and Sharing Easier

Although I’ve been a bigger fan of Reddit lately (I like how it has a sub-reddit for just about anything, including social media). This just came through my Twitter account, via Read Write Web. Digg just launched a new toolbar to make sharing easier. I’m a little toolbared out at the moment, but I may [...]

Marketers find Twitter a tweet recipe for success

Great article in USA Today about retail using Twitter for marketing. I actually recently started a Twitter campaign for a client of mine: TwentyThirtyForty.net although the focus was not to sell clothing but to get more exposure for their fashion blog. And so far it’s been a pretty decent success, it got them some notice [...]
